Frequently Asked Questions

What does opting out do?

When you opt out, your IP address and email will be redacted from verification logs that server administrators can see. Other data like your username, verification status, and VPN detection flags will still be visible to help servers maintain security.

Why do I need to verify via DM?

We send a verification code to your Discord DMs to confirm you own the account. This prevents anyone from changing opt-out settings for accounts they don't own.

I can't receive the DM. What should I do?

Make sure you have Direct Messages enabled in Discord (User Settings → Privacy & Safety → Allow direct messages from server members). You must also share at least one server with ShadowCord.

Does this apply to past verifications?

Yes. Once you opt out, your IP and email will be hidden from server admin views for all past and future verifications across all servers.

Can I opt back in?

Yes. You can reverse your opt-out at any time by returning to this page and verifying your identity again. Your data will immediately become visible to server administrators.

How do I find my Discord ID?

Enable Developer Mode in Discord (User Settings → Advanced → Developer Mode), then right-click your username and select “Copy User ID”.
